After you have figured out your carbon footprint, you can purchase 1 carbon offset for each ton of CO2 that you are responsible for.

HOTEL and CONFERENCE OFFSETS

Hotels and Conferences are partnering with True Offsets in order to offer their participants and sponsors, as well as guests, the opportunity to offset the carbon footprint of their travel through certified carbon offsets that also benefit the local ecosystem. In addition to planting trees on the Big Island of Hawai’i, True Offsets also works with sister organization The Rock ‘n Renew Foundation (a registerd 501(c)3 non-profit organization) to provide educational programs in 35 states that teach students through experiential renewable energy and ecological restoration projects.

As part of Mauna Lani’s ongoing environmental stewardship efforts and malama aina’ (respect for the land), the resort is proud to announce our partnership with True Offsets, a company that is setting the world standard for carbon offsets, in a new ecological restoration project.
As a valued guest, you have the opportunity to buy and plant a tree to help reduce the carbon footprint of your trip to Hawaii.
You will receive a bar-coded identification of your tree and will be able to monitor the tree’s progress on the Internet, including how much carbon dioxide it absorbs.
As part of the resort’s commitment, Mauna Lani has purchased 135 trees –bamboo, ohia, avocado, royal palm, koa – for our guests.

Guests of Mauna Lani Resort can add the purchase of a tree to their room charges or pay by credit card at the Front Desk. You will have the option of planting your tree(s) yourself on the Hamakua Coast (a scenic 45 minute drive from the resort) or have True Offsets plant it for you. Please let the Front Desk associate know which you would prefer at the time of purchase.
