Why Carbon Offset?

True Offsets is working in partnership with businesses and our global community to redesign the way we interact with our natural world. We work with our clients to bring forward a restorative mindset to the way we all do business and live life.

True Offsets moves past the term ‘carbon offsets’ as you can never truly undo your negative impact on the planet.

As we prepare for the COP-15 in Copenhagen this winter, we hope that the leaders of our world recognize the inherent problems with carbon offsets as they have existed until now.

We started True Offsets to help individuals, businesses, and communities avoid the mistake of thinking that by “doing something good”, they can continue to “do something bad”.

Our aim is to help educate communities how to transition towards living sustainably, while repairing some of the damage to the environment that we all are responsible for.

True Offset’s projects help communities to develop immediate long-term environmental management systems that identify all impacts. T.o then provides technical (ie: renewable energy systems) and educational support to reduce all environmental impacts while providing living economy support, which develops green job pathways for all people. The emission reduction and ecological restoration projects measure exact amounts of renewable energy produced, (clean development mechanisms) as well as CO2 sequestered.

The Greenpeace Forests for Climate proposal for a hybrid market-linked fund is an interesting example of the types of programs that we hope will work to prevent deforestation. This would provide the financing needed to help protect the world’s remaining tropical forests. The proposal aims to Reduce Emissions from Deforestation and forest Degradation (known as REDD) in developing countries.

What are some of the sustainability development projects True Offsets invests in?

True Offsets funds renewable energy development projects such as bio-diesel coconut extraction systems, and the hydro-electric generators using 5 gallon buckets, thermal gradient energy systems that use soda cans, tea-lights, and copper thermal-gradient wafers. We work with renewable energy solutions that are affordable ie: under $400, and that utilize easy to find materials which are easy to repair. Current projects are under-way in Honoka’a, H.i, and on Fiji as part of our partnership with Tribe Wanted. Upcoming projects are set for Bayonne, N.j at the Rock ‘n Renew Foundation Ecology Center, and in public schools in NYC, and Los Angeles.

We are working with a software platform which will allow a real-time analysis of all renewable energy created through our projects.
